Mental health and parental support at BCW London

Mental health support

The wellbeing and mental health of all employees is critical to BCW.

We believe having a healthy, balanced culture supports the growth of our business and our people. Our Employee Value Proposition is: “We are designed to cultivate your growth and momentum.”

Our 2022 UK staff survey showed that 82% would recommend BCW as a great place to work and 84% are proud to work at BCW.

We strive to prevent excessive hours. Our dedicated People Planning team works with teams to support accurate, workload planning. We then compare monthly time reports to these plans so that we can identify pinch points and ensure we quickly resolve overcapacity.

Improving education around mental health is a key focus. Our 90-strong cohort of line managers has attended training sessions delivered by mental health experts to ensure the delivery of a consistent, supportive experience within the agency. In partnership with WPP, we host expert panel events on discussion topics such as National Suicide Prevention Day and Loneliness Awareness.

Our Employee Assistance Programme provides access to free advice and six free face-to-face counselling sessions, and our People Partners work closely with individuals and their managers to ensure employees who need mental health support receive bespoke strategies to ensure employees who need mental health support receive tools and strategies tailored specifically to their needs.

We have several listening mechanisms to measure the success of our efforts around wellbeing and mental health. In 2022, 90% of employees said their managers created an inclusive work environment and 88% said that people on their teams trust and respect each other.

Support for parents

Working parents

Employees with a year’s service can take 26 weeks of full pay for maternity, adoption, surrogacy and shared parental leave and four weeks full pay for partner (paternity/secondary carer) leave.

We support employees with access to time off and pay (subject to service criteria) who may be going through fertility treatments as well as neonatal and premature birth. In addition, we provide leave for those who experience pregnancy loss.
