Madrid, February 1, 2022 - BCW, the global communications agency in the business of moving people, today announced the appointment of Francisco López as CEO and market leader in Spain.
López takes over from Carmen Valera who has held the role for the past 16 years. Valera will remain with the organization as non-executive chairman and will now focus on the corporate development of the agency in addition to providing strategic counsel to clients.
López joined BCW 16 years ago (previously Burson-Marsteller) and for the last six years has served as Chief Operating Officer, responsible for ensuring excellence in client service and managing the agency's resources. He holds a degree in Information Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid. Lopez will report to Scott Wilson, BCW President Europe & Africa.
López said: "This new responsibility is a challenge and I face it with enthusiasm. BCW is a pioneering agency that, for decades, has contributed enormously to the sector, with an innovative approach and a focus on client service excellence. My goal is not only to maintain this fantastic legacy but to reinforce it and continue to ensure we develop outstanding work that truly moves people for our clients”.
Added Valera, "BCW is my home; it is the place where I have had the opportunity to learn, to a great extent from Francisco López. In the years we have been working together I have witnessed first-hand the value he brings to our clients, our professionals and, ultimately, to our company. Now, as non-executive chairman, I will be focused on supporting my CEO, further developing the agency and providing counsel to key clients where I can.”
Scott Wilson, BCW E&A President said: “BCW is PRovoke Media’s EMEA Agency of the Year, and Spain is a hugely important market for us. Today’s announcement is an exciting one for our clients, our team in Spain and indeed our wider European business. This is the start of a new era for BCW Spain and I am thrilled that Francisco is stepping up to the role of market leader. He is a great practitioner and committed to BCW’s Earned-Plus model. I am equally delighted that Carmen will also be staying with the business: she has successfully led BCW Spain for many years and I have no doubts that she will continue to be an important part of our new leadership team; providing support to Paco, to clients and the wider BCW business.”
