NEW YORK, December 15, 2021 – AxiCom, the award-wining technology specialist agency with 14 offices worldwide, has named Matthew Lackie Global Chief Executive Officer. Based in San Francisco, Lackie will be responsible for global expansion and driving growth across all regions, strengthening the agency’s integrated capabilities, leading key client counsel and building on AxiCom’s strong culture to attract and retain employees. AxiCom is part of the BCW Group of companies and is WPP’s only technology specialist PR agency.
Lackie has more than 25 years of global integrated marketing and communications expertise, having worked across business-to-business, consumer, healthcare and technology for multinational corporations, the public sector and start-up organizations. He has a proven track record of building, managing and retaining large teams in developed and emerging markets that exceed business objectives for both client and agency. He is also an experienced global agency board member with expertise in contributing to overall agency strategy and global client campaign development.
“I’ve admired Matt for many years and am so excited to finally have a chance to work together,” said Donna Imperato, Global CEO, BCW Group, to whom Lackie reports. “His expertise in all aspects of technology, as well as his extensive global experience, will add a new dimension to the agency and deepen its capabilities in many regions.”
Founded in 1994, Axicom is a global communications agency with deep expertise in technology that delivers integrated campaigns with creative prowess. The agency excels in translating highly technical concepts into stories that creatively connect with all stakeholders in the client ecosystem. Its clients span health tech, telecommunications, enterprise computing, media technology, business services and consumer products.
Lackie joins AxiCom from Golin, where he was President, Global Technology Practice, responsible for the agency’s client portfolio across North America, Europe and Asia. In that role, he delivered unprecedented global growth while rebuilding and doubling the size of Golin’s San Francisco office – positioning it as a center of excellence for technology.
Before that he spent 10 years with WE Communications (formerly Waggener Edstrom Worldwide) in a variety of roles, most recently as Executive Vice President, Asia-Pacific, with oversight of WE’s offices in Singapore, Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Sydney and Melbourne. In that role, Lackie built an engaged second bench of general managers and practice leaders across the region and established a regional leadership model to provide clients with a holistic set of capabilities. He also provided executive-level counsel for clients including Autodesk, HP, Honeywell Aerospace, Johns Hopkins, Lenovo, Microsoft, Qatar Airways and Roche.
Lackie began his career with Archetype (formerly Text 100), spending 11 years across London, Singapore, Shanghai and San Francisco. During his tenure, he led clients including Adobe, Cisco, Hitachi, IBM, Logitech, Nokia and Virgin Mobile, among others.
“AxiCom is a shining star in the technology industry, so highly regarded for its ability to translate complex technology innovations into stories that inspire interest and deliver impact,” said Lackie. “I am honored to lead this exceptional team of professionals and look forward to building on the strong relationships AxiCom has across the globe and delivering incredible work for our clients.”
Lackie was named PRWeek’s Agency Head of the Year 2014; was listed on PRWeek’s Power List 2016 & 2015 and was named to Campaign Asia’s 40 Under 40 List in 2013.
