Karen Clyne To Lead BCW North America Technology PracticeSeptember 27, 2021

NEW YORK, September 27, 2021 – BCW, the global communications agency built to move people, announced today that Karen Clyne has been appointed Executive Vice President, Technology Practice Leader for North America, effective immediately. In this role, Clyne will be responsible for leading and building the practice across the region and will oversee all aspects of BCW’s North America technology practice strategy, vision and offerings. Clyne is based in San Francisco.

Clyne brings more than 20 years of experience as an integrated communications and global public relations executive with experience working in agency, corporate and non-profit organizations. She has deep expertise across enterprise technology, including security, cloud and edge; financial services; health tech and wellness; business-to-business; business-to-business-to consumer; commerce; automotive; venture and private equity.

“Today every company is a technology company – not only the traditional manufacturers, but clients across automotive, hospitality, retail – really all sectors,” said Brooke Hovey, Global Chief Growth Officer and President, North America, BCW, to whom Clyne reports. “Karen has tremendous expertise across the technology industry and has consistently developed high-performance teams, initiatives and programs that exceed both client and agency expectations. It is a bonus that she is based in and has spent her entire career in California, the epicenter of so many technology innovations and tech policy issues that affect business across nearly every industry. I’m excited for the expertise she is bringing to BCW and look forward to the great work she and the team will deliver.”

Before joining BCW, Clyne served as Head of Corporate Communications for BlackBerry, where she established a corporate communications organizational structure, global program, rebrand support and messaging architecture. Previous to BlackBerry, she spent three years with MikeWorldWide (formerly MWW), as Executive Vice President and General Manager for the Western Region and Technology Practice Leader, responsible for managing seven-figure and start-up clients, client engagement, strategic campaigns, talent performance, recruitment and retention, and new business development. Prior to MikeWorldWide, she was Senior Vice President leading the Technology and Health Tech Practices at Eastwick (now Hotwire), where her team focused on security, fintech, storage, health tech and wellness, business intelligence, enterprise, big data, business-to-business, start-ups and established technology brands.

Earlier in her career, she worked with Herrick Media, Brisbane Digital Consulting Group, Wilson McHenry Company and Maxtor Corporation.

“I’m thrilled to join such a diverse, curious and talented team,” said Clyne. “BCW is doing exceptional work using its Earned-Plus approach leveraging every channel and medium. We have a deep (tech) opportunity ahead of us as we extend brands, business, narratives and spaces in this dynamic and rapidly changing technology world.

“I look forward to guiding, creating and inventing with our teams and our client partners to advance ideas, be bold in thinking and to drive actionable outcomes that move business and people forward,” Clyne added.

Clyne is a Regent for the Board of Regents and Trustees at Saint Mary’s College of California and serves on several local, national, and non-profit committees and associations to lend her expertise. Additionally, she is a founding member of CHIEF San Francisco, a women’s leadership network.
