LONDON, 18th May, 2023 - BCW, the leading global communications agency, today announced the appointment of Shakira Akinjobi as Director, Influencer Marketing. She will be a part of BCW London’s Digital, Creative, and Strategy Central Hub team, responsible for growing its influencer marketing offer to clients across the business.
Akinjobi joins BCW from content marketing agency The Looping Group, where she worked as the global account lead for client BMW since July 2021 and was responsible for the brand’s global influencer marketing strategy and social content creation. Prior to that, Akinjobi spent three years at sister WPP agency, Wavemaker, as a Content Partnerships Director and was responsible for creating strategic media partnerships for clients including Vodafone and Nationwide. She was named one of Campaign magazine’s “Faces to Watch 2020” for her work in the DE&I space on the nationwide ‘Together Against Hate’ campaign with Channel 4.
“Shakira’s depth of experience across influencer marketing, brand partnerships, and content makes her a top talent,” comments Kate Matlock, Managing Director of London’s Digital Innovation Group, to whom Akinjobi reports. “Shakira’s role will involve supercharging our expertise in data and performance, continuing to deliver boundary-pushing earned-led creative, and further strengthening our ‘people-first’ long-term relationship approach. These are all ongoing critical pillars of BCW’s Trufluence offer.”
Added Akinjobi, “BCW’s proprietary Trufluence methodology is unique and ensures that partnerships are grounded in insight, shared values and shared audiences to deliver powerful outcomes. I’m excited to get started."
