Mike has led communications efforts for successful public affairs campaigns on behalf of numerous companies and trade groups and helped leaders and Board members of major companies, universities and nonprofits navigate a variety of challenging issues. Mike has managed crises that have ranged from product recalls to executive misconduct to government investigations, policy challenges, industrial accidents, litigation and activist campaigns. He has also developed crisis management manuals and led training sessions and crisis simulation exercises for a wide range of companies, federal agencies and nonprofit organizations.

Mike’s clients have included companies in numerous industry sectors (including retail, food, transportation, personal care products, CPG, pharma, defense, finance, insurance, telecom, chemical and energy), federal government agencies, trade associations, foundations and educational institutions at all levels. In the education sector, Mike’s clients have included several universities, a college athletic coach, The Common Application, private schools and a higher education fund. He has also led webinars and spoken at meetings of college administrators, including general counsels.

Prior to joining BCW, Mike led the Washington, D.C. public affairs practice for Porter Novelli. Previously, he was a senior manager on legislative and regulatory issues for the American Chemistry Council. In that capacity, he drafted comments to federal agencies, served as a spokesperson on a number of issues and managed several committees and inter-industry coalitions.

Prior to the American Chemistry Council, he was Director of Communications and Technical Support for the Dangerous Goods Advisory Council, an association of more than 200 companies involved in chemical transportation. His experience also includes several years editing books and magazines.
