The Brief

The Beijing Sports Bureau as part of the China 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup Bid Committee engaged our team of advisors to assist them in implementing an extensive and effective campaign strategy for China’s bid for the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup. We were asked to develop the strategy to secure a strong and competitive message and implement this message in the all aspects of the bid.

Our Response

A key factor of the competitive strategy of China 2019 was to identify the strengths of China and then clearly communicate them to each of the members of the FIBA Central Board. China 2019 was competing against a bid from the Philippines. Following initial meetings with the Beijing Sports Bureau and the Chinese Basketball Association, a comprehensive campaign strategy was developed. The focus was to position China as the candidate providing `More than Ever' for Basketball. In cooperation with the Beijing Sports Bureau and the China 2019 bid team, we developed the bid book, implemented a communication strategy using a wide range of communication tools to reach voting members and influencers and developed the final presentation. The campaign peaked on the last day of the bid when the final presentation was delivered flawlessly by the team, ensuring a victory for China that will bring FIBA’s flagship event to the largest country in the world for the first time.

Our team of advisors came highly recommended and their experience with the international sports world has proved crucial to our successful bid for the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup”
