The energy crisis has seen two in five households struggling to pay their energy bills, with stigma and shame keeping a third of them from seeking help.

Stop The Silence is a communications campaign designed by BCW to encourage vulnerable households to access free practical and financial support through the British Gas Energy Trust (BGET).

Mental health advocate and rapper Professor Green was chosen as a compelling and relevant spokesperson due to his openness about growing up in poverty. BGET worked with The Post Office, as part of an ongoing partnership, to create Stop The Silence Pop-Ups in almost 70 post offices around the country. Money and energy advisors were there to offer one-to-one help and support to people struggling to pay their energy bills.

The campaign secured 323 pieces of coverage, including 48 broadcast interviews with Professor Green and/or BGET CEO Jessica Taplin. The coverage moved people to The BGET for support and after visiting a Pop Ups, 58% of people said they felt less stressed about their energy bills and 94% of them said they knew where they could seek financial support.
