BCW Names Qu Hong China CEOJune 17, 2020

BEIJING, JUNE 17, 2020 – BCW (Burson Cohn & Wolfe), a leading global communications agency, today announced the appointment of Qu Hong, current Market Leader for BCW Beijing, to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BCW China. Qu Hong will retain his market leader responsibilities for BCW Beijing; that market will operate as the mainland China headquarters for the agency. He takes on the role with immediate effect and will continue to report to Matt Stafford, President, BCW APAC.

“It was a natural decision to elevate Qu Hong to BCW China CEO,” said Stafford. “Beijing, a market critical to the growth and overall success of the China market, has seen stellar performance and an influx of top industry talent since he took the helm in 2017. Under Qu Hong’s leadership, BCW Beijing’s business grew significantly in 2019 and into 2020 Q1 while the industry has faced, and continues to face, unprecedented challenges.”

“There has never been more opportunity than there is today for BCW to leverage its knowledge of the complex communication landscape in China to help both foreign and Chinese companies develop branding and communication strategies, navigate the regulatory landscape, manage crisis and protect their corporate reputation,” said Qu Hong. “BCW Beijing has truly established itself as an integrated communications leader within the market in recent years and I am delighted at the opportunity to deliver measurable impact to more clients across China.”

Building on his deep understanding of the political, economic and commercial environment in China, Qu Hong helps global giants develop and implement communication strategies that effectively support their business objectives in China and other markets. He also provides senior counsel to leading Chinese companies on their strategic communication and “Going Global” efforts.

Qu Hong returned to Burson-Marsteller in 2017, having first worked at the agency between 2005 and 2012 as Director and Chief Consultant of Government Relations & Public Policy in Beijing. Prior to his return, he spent several years in senior roles at two global public relations agencies. Qu Hong began his career with the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), where he was also assigned as a diplomat to the Chinese Embassy in Santiago, Chile. He holds a Bachelor of Spanish Literature from Beijing Foreign Studies University.
