ISSUES AND CRISIS MANAGEMENT EXPERT LEE ALMAN JOINS BCW AS EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, CORPORATE AFFAIRSFebruary 22, 2024

NEW YORK, February 22, 2024 – BCW, one of the world’s leading global communications agencies, today announced that issues and risk management expert Lee Alman is joining as an Executive Vice President in the agency’s North America Corporate Affairs practice. Based in Los Angeles, he will be responsible for leading BCW’s issues and crisis specialty across the U.S.

Alman is a bar-admitted attorney with more than two decades of corporate communications, public affairs and policy experience spanning corporate, government, and nonprofit sectors, with expertise in crisis and risk management and response, integrated brand reputation, corporate social responsibility program creation and execution, issue advocacy, and creative campaign development.

“The manifold challenges that clients face today pose risks to seemingly every aspect of a business – from technology to supply chain to labor relations to succession planning and everything in between,” said Kristine Boyden, CEO, Americas, BCW. “Clients need strategic experts like Lee who have guided clients across industries through issues with a clear eye and sound judgment. I have had the privilege of working with Lee and I know that he’s also the rare crisis practitioner who is as good at navigating issues with clients as he is at building and leading teams.”

Before joining BCW, Alman spent nearly 12 years with Edelman in a variety of risk and reputation management capacities, most recently serving as Executive Vice President, U.S. Crisis and Risk Practice. While there, he managed a wide range of issues - including cybersecurity, reductions in force, corporate reorganizations, executive misconduct, investor activism, labor relations, federal litigation communications, natural disasters, utility rates, and workplace violence - for clients across arts and entertainment, education, energy, financial services, food and beverage, healthcare, retail, and technology / AI, among other sectors.

Before that, he spent five years as Director of External Affairs for The Doe Fund, where he led internal and external communications for the eight-figure nonprofit, ensuring unified exposure and campaigns across traditional, digital and social media channels. He also spent more than a decade in Washington, D.C., including stints at the Russ Reid Company and Golin. Alman began his career on Capitol Hill, where he served as a Legislative Director and U.S. House Appropriations Committee Associate Staff.

“Building, protecting and enhancing reputation for clients has never been more complex and vital,” said Alman. “I am delighted to join BCW – soon to be Burson – and to further strengthen its well-earned legacy as the counselors you turn to when the stakes are at their highest.”

Alman earned his J.D. and undergraduate degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was admitted to the North Carolina State Bar and the U.S. Supreme Court Bar.

On January 25th, WPP announced it would merge its two largest communications agencies, BCW and Hill & Knowlton, to form Burson, a powerhouse delivering modern communications leadership at scale to clients across the world. The merged company will become an industry-leading, full-service communications agency focused on building and protecting reputation. Burson will be operational as of July 1, 2024.
