NEW YORK, January 17, 2024 – BCW, one of the world’s leading global communications agencies, today announced that Kari Butcher will join the agency as President, Research, Data & Insights, North America, effective January 29. Based in Washington, D.C., Butcher will further build and scale the agency’s research, data and insights capabilities.

“Organizations have access to seemingly infinite streams of data about their businesses, their products, their audiences, their competitors and the world around them, but data without sophisticated interpretation is just noise without signal,” said Kristine Boyden, CEO, Americas, BCW, to whom Butcher will report. “Kari’s considerable expertise in using data to yield business and communications opportunities that protect and promote clients’ reputations will be especially valuable during this current period of unprecedented global uncertainty. I’m excited for what Kari will do to further strengthen our research and analytics offering.”

Butcher brings to BCW more than 25 years as a research and communications specialist. Having begun her research career in political polling, Butcher’s expertise spans corporate reputation, public affairs and issues management. She specializes in innovative data gathering and analyses from which she delivers actionable insights to drive client engagements.

Butcher has led research for national issue advocacy campaigns, global reputation tracking, and risk management and crisis recovery strategies for a wide range of multinational companies. She joins BCW from Edelman Data & Intelligence (DXI), where she spent the last nine and half years in multiple roles, most recently as Global Head of Corporate & Crisis Data x Intelligence. While with DXI, she counseled Fortune 500 brands across the health, food and beverage, and B2B sectors, as well as academic institutions, law firms and trade organizations crafting issue narratives, testing messages and measuring impact to guide communications for local, national and global issues.

Before that, Butcher spent nearly 15 years as a partner in several firms specializing in voter insights and targeting for public affairs, political advocacy and social media/digital communications related to California ballot initiatives and national issue campaigns. Butcher started her career as a political pollster at Penn, Schoen, Berland & Associates and was a founding partner of the polling firm Global Strategy Group, Inc.

“BCW has an enviable inventory of analytics and research tools – with its jewel-in-the-crown cognitive AI offering, BCW Decipher powered by Limbik – that not only help to identify opportunities but also uncover potential threats and disruptions to a business,” said Butcher. “I’m excited to join the BCW team at such a pivotal moment in time for clients, where data, analytics and insights will be so crucial to helping clients solve the most pressing issues facing their businesses.”
