BCW demonstrates its commitment to DE&I with appointment of Senior Director, Matt Foster to new role, Head of InclusionFebruary 7, 2022

LONDON, 7th February, 2022, BCW, the global communications agency built to move people, today announces the creation of a new role, Head of Inclusion, as part of a dedicated plan to become a more inclusive business, and the appointment of Senior Director Matt Foster to that role.

Foster joined BCW three years ago and has been responsible for leading some of the business’ largest healthcare clients. His appointment is effective immediately and will ensure BCW delivers its critical IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accountability) plans with a focus on London. At the same time, he will play a key role in coordinating IDEA initiatives across Europe & Africa and will collaborate closely with BCW’s Global Chief Inclusion Officer, Carol Watson. The role will impact all areas of the business and focus on integrating inclusion into every step of the BCW employee experience. Foster will lead a plan to increase representation across the diversity spectrum at all levels and build on BCW’s positive culture through a transparent review of its policies and learning and development opportunities.

“While BCW currently tracks significantly above the PRCA industry average in terms of diversity in its workforce and 84% of employees believe that the company is taking steps to be more diverse and inclusive*, a key priority for us is delivering on our IDEA plan and we recognise there is so much more we can do,” said Foster. “I am thrilled with this appointment as it demonstrates BCW’s commitment to ensuring changes are effective and sustainable. I am looking forward to consulting both internally and externally as we look to support clients with their inclusion challenges moving forwards.”

Catherine Keddie, Head of Culture and Healthcare Group MD UK comments: “We nurture a culture which encourages employees to bring their best and authentic selves to work and promotes diversity of thought and opinion. In his new role of Head of Inclusion, Matt will work to propagate this culture and ensure BCW provides all employees with a safe space to collaborate, learn and grow.”

Rebecca Grant, BCW’s UK CEO concludes: “Everything we do at BCW is about moving people – our workforce, our clients, and our agency forward. We can think of nothing more critical than moving people toward inclusion, equity and diversity to create an intentionally inclusive culture.

“Our global Destination Inclusion programme, which seeks to challenge unconscious bias and encourages discussion on topics including power and priveledge, allyship and exclusion, has been a first step on this journey, Grant continues. “Creating this role and setting ourselves clear targets and aspirations to work towards, are additional steps. With his experience across the diversity spectrum, we’re confident that Matt is the right person to drive this important focus for the business forwards.”

The Head of Inclusion role will also include oversight of progressive education and awareness for employees; stewardship of global IDEA and development of a London Inclusion Charter in order to fulfil BCW’s longer-term ambitions and commitments across each pillar of IDEA.
